Kirk's Wedding: Vomit and Happy Tears

This is gonna big one big post. I just don't have it in me to break it up into smaller ones. So you've been warned.
We started off on our trip to Happy Valley with such high hopes. We drove through the night on Thursday (the best way for our family to travel) and things were going great until it was 3am in Dillon, MT. That was when the puking began. It all started with Ailey waking up and saying that she wasn't feeling well and instantaneously started vomiting. About one millisecond later Kameron threw up. Good times. What could be the cause? No one was sick before we left...they didn't eat anything strange. Hmm...must be the rental car we were driving...a maroon minivan...of course. That would make anyone vomit right? (Those of you who know me know how anti-minivan Tyler and I are...so we cringe as we fill up our gas guzzling Suburban...but feel we look much cooler than the rest of you!!) Tyler and I went on a 30 minute rant about this was just the kind of reason why we don't drive a minivan...because apparently riding so close to the ground in such a vile vehicle produces an unpleasant swaying that induces carsickness. Unfortunately more puking interupted our rant. The vomiting continued and continued and continued. Of course we had no officially sanctioned barf bags so Ailey did a great job of vomiting into a small almond can and Kameron was puking quite successfully into a 32 oz drink cup. This fun continued from 3 am to 10 am at about 30 minute intervals. By Idaho Falls I was feeling quite queasy myself...must have been the power of suggestion...and was dry heaving out the door.
We arrived in Utah a disgusting mess. Tyler had to go try on his tux and then we drove directly to the laundramat (Is that a real word or have I made it up? Should it be laundry mat)...stripped Ailey and Kameron down...threw all their clothes, blankets and pillows in the washer. There was no way we were going to arrive at Brett and Marissa's house (Tyler's brother and sister-in-law) in that state. Kirk, Jayme and Kaiden met us at the Landramat and they believed also that it must have been the minivan as Kaiden took one look at it and projectile vomited on it. But by that time everyone was feeling better and everyone was hungry. So off to Cafe Rio we went for a delightful lunch.
We then went to Brett and Marissa's clean and presumably healthy. Tyler's sister, Lori, was in town so we had a fun afternoon with everyone. Tyler left that evening for Kirk's Bachelor party. There are no pictures of that event!! Everyone should invite a devout Mormon to their bachelor party it keeps things from descending into complete debauchery. Tyler had a great time!! Thank goodness for the great buffets in Wendover.
Tyler arrived the next morning extremely tired but in one piece. It was so good to see Lori and for her, Tyler and Brett to have some fun sibling time. I learned many new and "interesting" things about "Teenage Tyler" and his shady past from Brett and Lori while Tyler was gallavanting around Wendover. :) The weather was FREEZING and so we were forced indoors for most of Saturday. It was actually snowing!! Stinking Utah and me with only flip flops and capris.

Saturday evening I met up with my mom, Kelley,Jordi, Aaron, Kirk, Jayme and Kaiden for dinner. (Tyler, Reilly, Kameron, and Ailey hung out with Brett, Marissa and Lori).

Aaron and Jordin
How cute is little Kaiden? Oh my gosh! I could've eaten him up!! Then all the girls were off to Jayme's Bridal Shower. It was alot of fun to meet her family and friends. But then my cell-phone began to ring...dum da dum dum dum

It was my old pal Vomit calling. I guess it wasn't the minivan. Ailey was sick and puking again. Fun! I cut the night short and stopped at Smith's to get some supplies and spent most of the night with a sick three year-old who was freaking out that she was going to have to turn in her flower girl princess dress!! At around midnight I heard the sweet sounds of "Mom I'm not feeling good. I think I'm going to throw up". It was Reilly and she threw up every hour on the hour from midnight until about 6 am. Another daughter freaking out that she was going to have to turn in her Flower Girl Dress. By morning Ailey was fine but Reilly spent most of Sunday in bed.
Luckily I got to leave the house o'flu bright and early the next day because I was meeting my family for brunch and a mini baby shower for Jordi at Market Street Grill. Sweet Escape!! Sunday was the only nice day we had while in Utah (not good for an outdoor wedding) but the snow on the mountains looked gorgeous!!

Sunday afternoon was the wedding rehearsal. We were joined by more family. Fingers were still crossed for an outdoor ceremony. The location was gorgeous...beautiful gardens and a huge waterfall. After the rehearsal we headed downtown to Buca Di Beppo (a funky Italian restaurant) for the rehearsal dinner. Reilly rallied and attended the rehearsal and dinner but was white as a ghost and spent most of the night asleep on the floor with my mom's purse as a pillow and Aaron's coat as a blanket. She perked up a bit later on and we all had a fantastic time!!

Hard to believe we started out as two parents and five kids. Look at the crowd now. Ailey is hiding behind my mom's head.

By Monday morning guess who was vomiting? None other than the groomsman Tyler. Reilly was A-OK though. I took the kids and left that morning to meet up with my family for a day of shopping, last minute errands, and lunch at Cafe Normandy. An hour before we were supposed to leave for the wedding we returned and found a semi-green Tyler showered and ready to go. It was also freezing cold and raining.
But the skies cleared about 30 minutes before the wedding was to begin and everything turned out FABULOUS!! My pictures didn't turn out that great from the actual ceremony probably because I was crying and my mascara was running and I could barely see a blasted thing. What are the odds...five very sentimental women (my mom, me and my sisters) all weeping happy tears without a tissue among us and not one of us with the foresight to have worn water-proof mascara.

The Crows

After the ceremony we moved inside for the reception. We had an absolute blast!! There was great music, good food, lots of friends and family to visit with...SO MUCH FUN! Also-this particular reception center has a children's room downstairs complete with babysitter so we could drop off the kids and have a great time. Reilly refused to hang out downstairs and spent all her time either on the dance floor hip-hop dancing or at the bar having the bartender make her a bevy of fruity frozen drinks, Shirley Temples, and cherry cokes. Oh well. At least she was replenishing her fluids after her illness. Ailey stayed downstairs for awhile but then joined her big sister on the dance floor. Kameron, on the other hand, LOVED the kids room and didn't emerge until the night was over.

Kelley, Mom, Amber and Me

Amber and Tim. Amber was our nanny when we lived in Springdell. She was awesome...still is. She was like a big sister to me and such a great role model. She was a big influence in my life. She married Tim while she was our nanny and then Tim also moved in and they lived with us for about a year until we moved to Kansas City. They have the most amazing family. Five gorgeous and fabulous kids who all came to the reception and I am kicking myself for not getting a picture of the whole family. They moved to California after we moved to KC. They moved back to Utah right after Tyler and I got married and we used to babysit their twins and little boy. The twins are now freshman in college and the little boy is in high school!! They then added another son and daughter to the family. We were so excited to see them. They were a big highlight of the wedding.

The handsome Groom and Sister of the Groom...no chopped liver here!! I truly couldn't be happier for and prouder of my little brother. He is such an amazing person and I just adore him. The only sucky thing is that I have to get used to him living so far away. Tyler and I were seriously glum on the trip home thinking about that.

Mr. and Mrs. McClellan
We left at the crack of dawn the next day...much to (I'm sure) Brett and Marissa's delight...that we were taking all our vile germs with us. I really hope you guys don't get sick!! I have managed to escape unscathed...well except for a hacking cough. We arrived home safe and sound late last night. We had an amazing and eventful (to say the least) trip. Who wants us to come and visit them next? Anyone? Anyone? Yeah...that's what I thought!! ;)
