I'm In Love

OK...so I'm skipping some of the books I've read that I'm behind on the book reviews to do a review on two books that I just finished. Holy Cow! They are SO GOOD!! I'm shocked I liked them so much. First, they are Young Adult Literature and second, they take place in a postapocalyptic dystopia...and...I still liked them. No scratch that. I LOVED them.

Book Review #59

#60

Here's the synopsis from barnesandnoble.com:

In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV. Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she is forced to represent her district in the Games.

Ok...think The Giver meets The Most Dangerous Game meets The Lottery meets Ray Bradbury meets the TV show Survivor. Are you intrigued? Because you really should be!! I cannot recommend this series enough. Hunger Games is the first in the trilogy, and Catching Fire just came out.

I really can't say much more because I don't want to give away too much of the plot but the second book in the series Catching Fire is even better than the first. Hard to believe.

My Rating: EXCELLENT!!

Now go get these books and start reading!! I'm serious...RUN!! I hope you don't have anything important to do for the next day or two because you will not be able to put them down.

I just wrote those two titles down on my library request list--thanks! I am reading a very interesting book called "The Singing Creek Where the Willows Grow--the mystical nature diary of Opal Whiteley" by Benjamin Hoff. It is good--different--but good.

Yes, I am very intrigued! I want to read it, but even better is that I have a great recommendation for my young readers. P is always looking for a good read!

Loved you 9-11 post--you always express your feelings so well and I was touched by what you said. Hope all is well with you guys. I need my Bryn fix--let's see some pics of that girl! :)

Funny. Courtney was saying something similar to me about these books a while back to me, but I was in the middle of something else and forgot about it. Now this. I guess I better get my hands on these.

I just finished Catching Fire yesterday, after reading it nonstop for 2 days. Loved it! I can't wait for the third book. I like the series.
