Homecoming 2023

The day before Homecoming we let Bryn stay home from seminary and school. This has become something of a tradition with all of her siblings...Kam included. There is always so much to do before big dances and our kids are always busy with activities and have very little time to actually do them.

First up was the nail salon. While there I might as well get mine done too. LOL. Then it was shopping for jewelry, a handbag, and the appropriate underclothes for her short and tight fitting dress. We grabbed lunch and then continued our shopping marathon. We had to shop at warp speed because Bryn also had to get to the actual Homecoming game that was being played extra early this year.

The theme for the game was snow day. So everyone was in their ski clothes. Bryn's date is on the football team. Bryn had a great time at the game unfortunately our school lost. She and her big group of friends all hung out after the game.

The next day Bryn went over to her friend Naomi's house where she and her friends all got ready. At 4:30 pm all the HOCO parents met at Bryn's date's house for pictures. I love this group of kids. She has known most of them since kindergarten and a couple go to church with her but the majority don't and they are such a fun group! This was their first formal dance and they were all hilariously awkward. All of us parents got a kick out of it! It was great to be with this group of parents that we have known since elementary school and to see our kids all glammed up and dating!!

Bryn looked so beautiful!!

Looking good!!

Then they were off to a fancy dinner at the Spokane Club and then to the dance! Bryn had a great time! After the dance the kids all came back to Bryn's date's house where they changed into comfy clothes, ate snacks, and watched movies until late. Bryn had a fabulous time!! I'm so glad that her first formal dance (and her first date!!) was such a fun one!

Homecoming 2018

Homecoming

Kameron went to Homecoming and ...a miracle occurred! I was allowed to take pictures!!

I already wrote about how Kameron asked Carly to Homecoming in my September post. Kameron was actually quite excited and looking forward to Homecoming. He and Carly were doubling with Kameron's good friends, Kaitlyn and Jack. There was a lot of planning that went into this event. It was really fun to watch.

Tyler and I kept up our tradition, that we started with Reilly, of letting our kids skip school to go shopping for their Homecoming/Prom attire. Our kids are so busy with work and activities and it has always been so hard to fit in a big shopping extravaganza. Letting the kids miss a half a day of school during the week to go shopping works surprisingly well and takes about half the time of doing it on a busy Saturday or trying to go in the evening on a school night. Surprisingly, Kameron's outfit cost about the same as Reilly's formal dresses!! I thought we were going to get a break with a boy. Nope. At least he will get more wear out of his new duds. He can wear them to church.

Our school's Homecoming game was played at 4pm on a Thursday. Kind of crazy. Ailey danced at the Homecoming game. The dance team and the cheerleaders were doing a big combined performance. Ailey had three lifts!! She did a fantastic job!

Emily and Ailey

Tyler wasn't even off of work at that time so Bryn and I were there cheering not only for Ailey but also for Kameron who was playing in the Pep Band.

Bryn got a few sly pictures of him! Ha ha!
 Ellie, Kam, and Jonathon.
Three trumpeters and good friends!!

The school photographer even managed to capture the elusive smiling Kameron!!

This must be when he noticed the photographer!!

The photographer also got this great shot of Ailey!!

Here's another picture of Ailey, the dance team, and the cheerleaders getting into position to form a big star that rotated around in a large circle in the middle of the field. Her other lift... that I don't have a picture of... was being held in the air in the splits. It was pretty cool!

We had fun at the game and it wasn't *too* cold although hot chocolate was necessary. Our school won which extra nice!! It was fun to see kids that we have known for years play football, play in the band, cheer, and dance. It was a great night! The sunset wasn't too bad either!! ;)

The Homecoming Dance was on Saturday night. Kameron was spruced up and ready to go! The corsage he ordered for Carly turned out really pretty. His date was going to wear a black dress with red high heels so she said that she wanted white roses with a red ribbon for her corsage and she was going to order a white rose boutonniere with a red ribbon for Kameron. Carly's wrist corsage was really pretty. It even had red gems in it too. The order form with Kameron's instructions on it were: white roses, red ribbon, classy. Boom!

Kam and Jack had planned out a fun night! They were all meeting at Kaitlyn's house and then were going in one car. They drove to the place where they wanted their pictures taken...a park near the Spokane River. All of the parents met there for the picture taking. We got to take pictures to our heart's delight...well maybe not that many...but the kids were pretty accommodating!! Even Kam was in a particularly happy and jubilant mood and allowed me take all kinds of pictures...without complaint!! Unheard of!! I guess it helps to have a pretty girl on your arm!! He was in a GREAT mood!! So much grinning and laughing!! Tyler and I were like..."Who is this kid??"

So cute!
Carly ended up wearing yellow heels at the last minute. Oh well. She is a cutie!!

Kam and his buddy Jack.

Kaitlyn is also one of Kameron's best friends. She is a cheerleader and one of the bubbliest people around. She is a good friend and a good influence on Kam. They are in the same Seminary class, school, and they also work together. Carly is in their seminary class too but goes to a different high school. They are all good friends and it was a fun group!

They chose such a pretty spot for their pictures! There were quite a few other kids that we knew who were waiting to get their group pictures taken there too. It was fun to see all of them and their dates!!

I even managed to snag this one when he wasn't looking! Such a cute boy!

After that they bid us all farewell and went to dinner at the Olive Garden. After that they went to the dance and met up with friends. They had plans to go bowling after the dance but ended up back at Kaitlyn's house and hung out for awhile and and then went as a big group for a late night snack at McDonald's...ha ha! Kameron had a great time!! He got home late and was very chatty! Score! I got to hear all of the details. I am so glad that he and his date (and friends) had such a great time!! HOCO 2018 was a success!!
