Bryn had her student council election and she won! She is the PR person for Sophomore Class Council. We are so proud of her! She no longer allows me to post all of her accomplishments on social media but I am allowed to post about them on the old family blog! Bryn has been busy with volleyball. She isn't loving it as much this year. She isn't crazy about her team or her coach. It's been kind of a bummer for her.
It's still fun to watch her play and to cheer her on!
Kameron has a new job in Utah. He is working at Young Truck and Trailer Center. He is a rental coordinator at a trailer dealership. Erin is working remotely as a customer service agent for a mortgage company. She is working for the same company that she worked for in Rexburg. They are having fun exploring their new area and living that happy newlywed life!
Tyler and I have been trying to squeeze in as much pickleball as we can while the weather is still nice. We bought Bryn her own equipment and make her play with/against us! She's good!
Homecoming came around again...
Bryn just went with friends this year. She looked gorgeous! She had fun with her friends and at the game despite our team losing again this year.
We had another chance to see the Northern Lights and they were just as awe inspiring as the first time! We could see them even better with our natural eyes. It was phenomenal!
Ailey's bestie Olivia got married. It's hard to believe that all of these kids are getting married. Ailey also got a calling as the Family History Representative for like the 5th time. It is literally the only calling she ever gets and it requires nothing on her part. I told her that she should appreciate it! She could have a really horrible and involved calling. She also went to her alterations appointment. We are changing the sleeves on her wedding dress. Ailey wants long sleeves but she found out that there isn't enough extra fabric to make long sleeves. Her fabric is fairly unique. We can try to order more from the company but it may not happen and she may have to do a different kind of sleeve. The bridal store gave us faulty information and wasn't completely honest. That has been frustrating. We are really missing Mom right now for many reasons but also because she would be so knowledgeable about fabrics and dress design and just all of it. She would have altered the dress for Ailey herself and would have loved every minute of it.
This month our presidency got released from our callings in the Stake Primary Presidency. It was actually really hard to be released. I loved that calling and learned so much. It was a good four years. It made me very sad and truth be told...mad. Why are feelings about callings so complex? The Sunday we got released it was our ward's primary program. It was good to sit together once more . Our releases were announced and then it was the program. Afterward we visited the primary kids and went to their classes. It was a good last hurrah and closure I guess. Now what? I dread what new calling I could get.
Tyler's mom and sister officially moved to Silverton, Oregon. My cousin Wendy was there to greet them AND brought them dinner. Judie cannot say enough nice things about Wendy. I really appreciate Wendy's kindness. Tyler and I decided to take a quick trip to Oregon to get them settled. We actually had a really fun time and it was a nice little getaway for the two of us. (Bryn couldn't miss school and sports so she stayed home.) It's not a bad little road trip. We stopped at some of our favorite places along the way. We got lunch at our favorite Petite Provence in The Dalles. We also stopped at some of my favorite places to shop for Sisters Creed. I found a few little things.
We stopped to stretch our legs at Multnomah Falls which never fails to stun us with its beauty no matter how many times we come.
We had never been to Silverton before and were absolutely charmed by it! It is so cute and quaint. My cousin has been saying that we need to visit her for years and we should have. Silverton is DARLING!
We checked into our Airbnb and then headed over to the townhouse that Judie and Lori are renting. It is cute and perfect for them. It was good to see them! My mother-in-law looked exhausted. Emptying and selling her house and moving to another state and starting over at 80 would definitely do it. Not to mention the antics of Tyler's idiotic brother. I'm so glad that Lori and Judie will be closer to us.
We all went out for dinner and then Tyler and I helped them with some projects around the house. It was good to catch up with both of them. They were also able to facetime with Bryn, Ailey and Luke, and Kameron and Erin.
The next morning Tyler and I were up and out the door early. Tyler needed to stop at the hardware store to pick up some supplies for the projects that he was doing for his mom and sister. He hung up 20 different things on the wall, installed three bidets, hooked up their TVs, repaired their grandfather clock, fixed any and all phone and computer problems, and put together some furniture. He was a rock star! Meanwhile I talked to my mother-in-law for hours, looked at all of her photo albums, listened to her stories, looked at her journals, and read her patriarchal blessing. We went through her recipes and she even dug out her old wedding dress from her marriage to Tyler's dad. While looking at her photos I found this gem! Check out this hottie!

We grabbed a late lunch at Main Street Bistro. It was good! I had a delicious pimento cheese chicken sandwich. After that they wanted to show us some of the beautiful waterfalls in the area. They took us to the South Falls Historic District. Apparently there are 10 waterfalls in a 7 mile loop. One waterfall you can just pull over and see which we did.
There was another big waterfall that was handicap accessible and had just a one mile walking path to it so Judie wanted to walk to see that one. She is getting less mobile. Both waterfalls were pretty incredible! The scenery was just STUNNING! The sun was out and some of the leaves had turned colors. It was really beautiful!
After that we went back to their house and helped them with a few more things. Before it got dark they wanted to show us the walking path near their new house. They are very excited about the walkability of their new town.
After lunch we said goodbye to all of them and drove to Portland. We stopped to do some shopping at IKEA before we drove home. IKEA was all decorated for Christmas which was festive! It was a great trip! We loved Silverton and feel really good about Lori and Judie living there.
Bryn had her last volleyball game of the season and Reilly, Hunter, and Karson came to watch her play.
Karson was obsessed with this kid in a dinosaur costume at the game. LOL.
Bryn had her Fall Orchestra Concert. She played beautifully. I love listening to her play the cello.
The author event was so interesting! I have such a deep appreciation for the experience that I had listening to the author, Debra Magpie Earling, talk about her writing. She is fascinating! She relayed so many riveting and haunting stories about her life. I could've listened to her for hours. She is currently writing her memoir and I will be the first in line to read it.
Kameron and Erin went up to Rexburg again to see family and friends. Kam, Erin, Ailey, and Luke all went to a Haunted House together.
Bryn had all kinds of events this month with FCCLA which is her Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America club. They had several field trips, guest speakers, parties, fundraisers, and service projects. Bryn loves it and is super involved in it.
Ailey FINALLY got in for her iron infusion after waiting forever for our insurance company to approve her treatments both here in WA and now in Idaho. Once it was approved she had multiple scheduling snafus. Her appointment got cancelled twice. Rexburg is not the place you want to be for any kind of medical treatment!! This time she got a different iron formulation and a much stronger one. She had a lot of side effects from the infusion and felt pretty crappy.
Reilly is still boxing and loving it! We got to babysit Karson several times while she was at her class!
We had all kinds of things break down this month. ANNOYING! Our microwave died. My laptop died. The heater in our suburban stopped blowing. Thankfully Tyler was able to fix my laptop and the heater in the suburban. But we had to by a new microwave. Hunter had some issues with his truck and Reilly brought it over for Tyler to help her fix it which he did!
Girls can fix cars too! Reilly is very mechanical minded and she did a great job! Yay Reilly!
In some sad news... Luke's grandpa passed away very unexpectedly. He was the one who was a sealer at the Payson Temple. He was planning to seal Ailey and Luke when they get married. So sad. Also one of my friends has been in the hospital for several weeks. We've helping with dinners and whatever we can. I hope she gets to come home to her family soon.
We also made the decision to move Bryn out of her current bedroom and into Ailey's old room. She is NOT HAPPY about it. Ailey's room is quite a bit smaller than Bryn's room but we need the larger room to be a guest room now. We told Bryn that she had to be moved into Ailey's old room by the end of the month. She did it but it was down to the wire and her bad attitude was going strong! 15 is precious.
The rest of the month was filled with dental appointments, hair appointments, and a podiatry appointment for Tyler. I hosted book club this month which was fun! There were other weird happenings like volcanic activity at Mt. Adams...sulfur smells, earthquakes...is Mt. Adams waking up? We just drove past Mt. Adams on our way to Silverton and nothing was happening then.
Then it was HALLOWEEN!
