I'm Baacckkk!!
Did you miss me? You did? Isn't that special!! ;) I have a gripe...an irritation...a peeve... No, it's beyond that. It is now an abhorrence. I cannot take it a minute longer!! In my official RS Secretarial duties I am forced to make a lot of phone calls...I hate calling people...but what I hate even more is THIS!!
To Whom It May Concern:
I am begging you. I am pleading with you dear sisters of the Relief Society when you answer your telephone could you PLEASE put your sandwiches, chips, cookies...what have you...DOWN!! Or better yet...SWALLOW. Or even better...let voice mail pick up if your mouth is full and you can't tear yourself away from your tasty little morsel. I can't take another minute of your smacking and slurping. It KILLS me. It annoys me. It makes me want to drive to your house and literally smack you. It's revolting and repugnant. And none of the guilty parties read this blog. Hells Bells!!
Love,
Your RS Secretary...aka...The Church Lady.

I'm with you on this one!!!! I hate making phone calls period - plus I have a hard time understanding people on the phone - all that extra background noise does not help!!!
Gross, really people do that? I have way too many insecurities over people thinking I am a pig. Also, I never answer when church people call. They can leave a message. Caller ID is a necessary part of church membership.
I feel for you making all those phone calls.
you are cracking me up.
(oh wait, hold on while i finish
this
bite
of
cookie)
...hmmm, not the same over the internet as over the phone. that is a good thing, right?
my mom does the same thing and i seriously want to hang up and i LOVE her so i can only imagine if a rude non-family member did it!!
I have never been the recipients of that. But I get totally bugged that my husband does it to his mom on the phone!
Bless you for making those phone calls--that is the WORST task ever.
Wow, I didn't know there was such an epidemic in the church. All us ladies stuffing our face and answering phones. Noted and stored away for future reference.
This post is so you, Kristin. I only wish I could hear your smack down live.
Nothing can get my blood boiling then hearing someone eat--unfortunately their is not one member in our family who is not guilty of this!it starts w/ a little huff and puff- and then when your about to blow your top-the question--- finally....WHAT ARE YOU EATING????I believe I recently had to get off the phone with you due to your need to eat and chat!! I know I know--we never think people can actually hear us!
so sorry sister- I sometimes wonder if people actually decide to make a call to me, after they have sat down with a big ole' plate of food. AHHHHHHHH.
I say that my sister Kelley is a big fat liar!! ;)You have sensitive ears...if I even swallow loudly you accuse me of eating on the phone. This peeve runs in our family...but we certainly didn't get it from our mother...a known eat/chatter!!

I plead.........GUILTY! Though I try to be pretty good about it with non fam members (at least I think - please bless you haven't talked to me while I'm chowing down). For me, it's kind of like a "kill two birds with one stone" sort of weird, accomplished feeling. WARNING: Do not ever listen to a conversation with me & my mom.
I barely had a conversation with Rebecca. Out of habit I was chompin on Skittles, but I ended up being polite, and hopefully not grossing her out at the same time!
That's so funny how people learn differently on what's okay, what's weird/and not okay. I'm glad I'm more aware of it! It's definitley more polite to give direct attention to the person you're talking to.
Jayni-
I have NEVER heard you eating on the phone while you were talking to me...EVER!! :)
ok, that's funny! And since I'm pretty sure I've never spoken to you on the phone, I'm off the hook!
