COVID-19 Quarantine: Days 31-35

Day 31: 4-13-20 (Monday)

We stayed at the lake until around 7 pm today. Why not? The weather was beautiful. Tyler could get some work done via his cellphone and answering emails. The kids did *school* and ZOOM classes on their cellphones too. There was no big rush to get home.

Bryn on Zoom with her teacher and classmates. Ailey behind her on the floor on a Zoom meeting too! Isn't technology awesome!

Many TikTok videos were made or were attempted to be made!

LOL!

We deep cleaned the house and did yard work. We went for a big walk around the lake with Beverly. We talked to Kirk and Meki. They got me through the weekend! I am so grateful for them. Easter was hard and dividing up my mom's belongings was so difficult. Even weirder was packing some of them up and bringing them home. Seeing them in my house just reinforces the fact that my mom is gone. I wouldn't have these items in my home if she were still here.

Day 32: 4-14-20 (Tuesday)

We are back home and it is BLAH. It is rainy and gray. Tyler had meetings most of the day and the kids were super busy with school. Kam had a day off and I had him deep clean and organize his room. He went through his clothes and got rid of a bunch of stuff. My mood pretty much bottomed out today. The stress and emotions of dealing with dividing up my mom's things took a huge emotional toll. I was weepy and sad most of the day. Tyler recommended that I stop trying to "get things done" and just go take a nap. I did. It helped.

Our new microwave arrived. We haven't had one for about three years now. I am not a fan of them and I haven't even missed it. But the family wanted one and since we are all in quarantine and needed some novelty we bought one on Amazon. Mug cakes and microwave popcorn are all the rage now.

We also ordered a bidet. We still have toilet paper but I don't want to be in this predicament again. Tyler has wanted one for awhile but the one we want (a fancy one with all the bells and whistles) has been out of stock. Tyler's brother Brett bought one similar to the one we ordered and they are loving it. Screw you toilet paper! We're moving on! LOL.

We also forgot a few things at the lake (of course) so Tyler and I had to drive back out to the lake that night to retrieve them. It will be a miracle if we ever leave the lake with everything the first time. But a car ride and good talk with Tyler was helpful to my mood. I went to bed in better spirits.

Day 33: 4-15-20 (Wednesday)

I felt much better this morning. I got my exercise in early (which totally helps) and went for a walk around lunch time with Tyler. We had to cut our walk short though because Tyler's blood sugar got low and he forgot to bring any of his tablets with him. The joys of diabetes. This made him irritable and me too.

Today was productive which is always helpful to my mood. I had ALL of the kids deep clean and organize their rooms. They all got rid of outgrown clothes. Now if only we could drop them off at Goodwill!! It felt great to dejunk.

I discovered Paula Deen cooking videos on Instagram and they are giving me life! They are hilarious and comforting. Put a dark wig on her and she is my Nana. I love these so much!! Tyler also got on the conspiracy theory train with me and watched two different documentaries. It's either this or the Kardashians. Which is worse? I literally cannot read right now. It is just like after my mom died. I don't have the attention span for it. I have all this time and can't read. It sucks.

Since Kameron was off work tonight we had him make his delicious Stronganoff for dinner again.

Day 34: 4-16-20 (Thursday)

Today is another sunny day! Ailey made us blueberry muffins for breakfast which were delicious. Yes, food is pretty much the joy of quarantine. Life goes on in our usual quarantine routine. Today everyone had video meetings including me. Those make my life better because I feel like I am *seeing* friends. I really miss being social. Thank goodness for texting, Facetime, and Zoom!!

We had several errands that needed to be done today. I had to go to the bank and to a few other places that didn't require me to get out of the car. Tyler and I also took a load of junk to the dump. That was thrilling. Again...one of my favorite feelings is getting rid of stuff! It is painful that I can't drop stuff off at Goodwill. It's just piling up in the garage. But...we had a bunch of old yard stuff that we could drop off at the dump so we did!

Tyler ordered me this stress relieving device from Amazon. It's a neck hammock.  It connects to a door knob and it takes the stress off of my neck which is where I hold so much of my stress. It is delightful!

Tyler and I made the decision to buy my mom's ski boat and have started that process. I hope it goes smoothly.

Day 35: 4-17-20 (Friday)

Today was a fun day!! It was sunny and nice although I spent nearly all day inside and on the computer. I had so much online business that had to be done. But the fun really kicked in on date night! I still so look forward to date night even quarantine date nights!!

For our date night we went to Dickie's BBQ. One of Tyler's coworkers told us that the owner is smoking a bunch of meat each day and needs to make sure that it all sells and that if anyone can go support him it would be great. We love BBQ so we did. We went through the drive thru and then went to the temple grounds for a little picnic. Most restaurants aren't including utensils and napkins (I guess to cut down on things they would have touched) so I had to run into the Albertsons (I now travel with mask and gloves) by the temple to grab some plastic forks and some napkins. While I was there I saw that they had FLOUR!!! Only small packages and only one per customer but I grabbed one! Exciting!! Yes, standards of excitement are very low! After dinner we drove to Sun-Up Bay and looked at the beautiful water. Then back to our favorite park for a night walk. So much fun!

On our way home... at almost 10pm (Woohoo! Look how late we were out!) I had to go to our Albertsons for some groceries. I am so glad that I got the flour in the valley because there was none to be had at the one by our house. I forgot to say earlier that at stores you now have to wait outside and take your turn social distancing as you go in. The aisles are one way which is a huge pain. Plus people just stand in the middle of the aisle regardless of it being one way or two way. But whatever. There is still no toilet paper, no yeast, very few canned soups, no chlorox wipes or handsanitizer...but there are now paper towels. Yay!

When I was checking out my friend Lisa walked in. She was waving at me in her gloves and mask! It was like Christmas morning! LOL. I guess she only came in for a few things because when I was at our car starting to unload she came out and came over and we talked for almost an hour...from a safe social distance of course! It was wonderful!! We got all caught up on life, kids, careers, and future plans. I thought Tyler might be going crazy waiting for me to stop talking but when I got in the car he was super sweet. I told him that I was sorry for making him wait so long and he replied with "I didn't mind at all. I know that you needed that." Yep... I sure did. Are we ever going to take friendships for granted again? I don't think so. A good dishy chat with a friend in an Albertsons parking lot made my day...nay week!! I am so incredibly grateful for technology that allows me to stay in touch with my friends and family. But there is nothing like seeing people and interacting IN PERSON. I miss hugging people! I am a definite hugger.

A date night plus a visit with a dear friend = a great day!!
