Christmas 2009 & New Years Too!!

We had a great Christmas this year although it arrived way too fast! I swear the Christmas season gets shorter and shorter every year. This year was extra special as it was Bryn's first Christmas. She loved the tree and all the lights and decorations. But Santa scared the heck out of her! She was screaming bloody murder at our church Christmas party!!

We had our own Christmas Eve at our house and it was a fun night of fantastic food (cheese and chocolate fondues) and fun. I love Christmas Eve it is my very favorite part of Christmas.

Four VERY excited kids!!

Opening Jammies

Bryn and the mesmerizing candy-striped wrapping paper

Cute sisters

The kids put on a little Nativity Pageant with Reilly as the narrator, Ailey as Mary, Kameron as Joseph and Bryn as an absolutely HYSTERICAL baby Jesus. The kids were thrilled to have a real baby and not have to use a doll this year and Bryn just ate up the attention!!

Then we all posed for the traditional jammie picture and as usual things took a turn for the crazy.

Christmas Eve went into the wee hours of the morning...waiting for Santa...and waiting out Bryn who wanted to party all night long!!

Two tired parents and one wide-awake baby who loves to wave!!
This was the "present of the year"...we finally caved.
To soften the blow of breaking down and giving in...one of my gifts from Tyler was this:

OH MY GOSH!! I can't even begin to tell you how much fun and family togetherness this game has brought us. We have been karaoke-ing fools since Christmas!!
Here the songs we ROCK:
Tyler: I Ran (So Far Away) - Flock of Seagulls (Got a perfect score!)
Kristin: The Logical Song - Supertramp (got a perfect score...who knew?)
Reilly: Any song on there
Kameron: Human - The Killers
Ailey: Pocketful of Sunshine- Natasha Bedingfield
Half the fun has come from designing our alter-egos and watching them perform. Ha!!
Christmas Day we drove up to my mom's house and stayed for the rest of Christmas weekend.

My cute mom frosting her Christmas Red Velvet Cake...I do declare that it was delicious!!
Our Christmas Dinner of choice this year was a big sushi-fest. Lots of us in our family requested deep-fryers this Christmas for just this purpose of making tempura-battered sushi. Truly the best thing EVER!! My pictures end here because everyone was put to work for the sushi-fest. We had a small rice debacle but everything turned out great in the end.

Ken and Reilly slicing and dicing...Elle and Kelley in the background.
New YearsOur New Years Eve this year was probably one of our best...barring my unfortunate injury that occurred the day after Christmas (this needs a post of it's own for all the drama that ensued.) But back to New Years Eve...Reilly was performing in our town's First Night Celebration...which I loathe!! (First Night...not Reilly's dancing) I simply despise paying to wander around downtown in freezing weather watching lame performers (again not Reilly of course)...bringing home bags of my kids' crafty-crap made from stuff I loathe...feathers, glitter, pipe cleaners which they will not chuck the next day, listening to constant whining about how much their feet hurt while a weird guy on stilts tries to show me rope tricks or pull a quarter from behind my ear. I. SIMPLY. HATE. IT!!
This year it worked out great. Reilly had two performances...so we found us some seats...took the kids around just to the stuff that was in that room, bribed them to keep them from wanting to wander around by buying them cheapy glowing light sabers which they used to fight one another which kept them quite entertained between performances and I was kept happy by munching on a big bag of cotton candy. Yum. Best candy ever.
I wasn't the only one who loves her a little cotton candy:

Brynnie was chowing down. The cotton candy people even tucked a wet-nap in the bag too! Score. Undoubtedly a mother thought of that brilliant idea!!
Reilly was fun to watch as usual...very beautiful. Here she is posing.

I would include the video but Tyler had some difficulty filming what with Bryn and the cotton candy and all...and we mostly got a delightful movie of some guy's big fat head!!
We decided to bag the rest of First Night...bag going home to cook up a bunch of gourmet treats...and headed to our favorite Mexican restaurant were we laughed and ate and had a great time!! We headed home to play about two or three hours worth of games...and rang in 2010.
No this wasn't a repeat of last year's bust...where Ailey spent the evening crying and whining... Tyler and I fell asleep at 10 pm...and Reilly and Kameron toasted the New Year together and took horribly hideous photos of their parents sleeping.
This year we were having such a good time that everyone stayed awake except for Bryn and Ailey who crashed around 11:30. We were having such a fantastic time with our older kids that after toasting the new year we kept playing games until 2 am!!
From Our House To Yours... HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Ya'll come back now...ya'hear!! :)
